Nick Jonas a lobbyist?

Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, was in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday — but not to visit Sasha and Malia Obama in his capacity as boy-band heartthrob.

Alongside former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and actress Mary Tyler Moore, the 16-year-old testified on behalf of diabetes research funding before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes three years ago.

On Tuesday, Jonas had an audience with President Barack Obama. For the occasion, he wore a white oxford shirt and blazer — with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Surely, First Lady Michelle Obama approved.
